Welcome to the Oils
We have been infusing herbs in oils to create a range of new products. From these lovely oils we have made medicinal creams, ointments, rubs, lip balms, ear drops and skin oils.
The Creative Process
Firstly, the herbs need to be gathered,

The St. John's Wort flowers (in the basket)
were collected in Hertfordshire, from
Stanborough Lakes and Grand Union
Canal, Ware. Not to be confused with the
mullein spike in the foreground.

The calendula was donated from a lovely lady
in the Digswell area, from her allotment and
the lavender and mullein were grown in
the garden. Karen's shown here displaying
the vibrant orange and yellow flowers.

The heather was collected from the moors near Hebdon Bridge, Yorkshire by the budding young herbalists.

Lavender was picked from the Sensory Solution's gardens in Hertfordshire.

Mullein picked by maidens in S.S uniform in Welwyn's Stanborough park is the main herb in our ear oil.

Earthenware

Earthenware is traditionally used for the
storage of oils. These beautiful bottles were
found in the Massive Central of France in a
little curiosity shop which sparked us to
explore the creative process of infused oils.

Infusion and burial

On the August/corn new moon the oils were infused and sealed in the bottles using Lorraine's special beeswax candle. We buried them next to the fig tree in the allotment, a stone spiral marked the spot.

Earth Energy

At the time of the new moon the earths energy has retreated underground. In burying the oils at this time we energised the plants qualities with the strong, grounding earth element.

The oils are left for two and a half lunar cycles before being raised from the ground on the October/blood full moon. They were left for a further two weeks to complete the lunar cycle then strained on Samhain (all hallows eve).

Sun Energy

Some oils qualities, better suit infusion under the energy of our big Solar ball of fire, the Sun. These are infused in the same way only at the time of the highest solar power, i.e. Around the summer solstice (June 21st). Then left to gather the rays for a further three months.

Bottling

Next step in the process is to bottle and label them before making the balms
